Early Stars is a first-of-its-kind program in Fresno County for licensed and license-exempt programs, such as child care/preschool centers, family child care home providers, and family/friend/neighbor caregivers serving children from birth to age five.

As an early care and education provider, your participation in the Early Stars Program assures parents that your center or home pursues high standards for stimulating children's development, education, and their health and safety.

Families will easily find you with a free listing on both the Early Stars website and the Central Valley Children's Services Network Findcare Department.

Teachers and administrators can also get free or low-cost professional development training from child development experts and key agencies to:

  • Learn strategies based on the latest research
  • Learn how to set-up business policies and procedures
  • Learn how to apply and leverage state funding/block grants

Plus, free technical assistance from the Early Stars team, the Fresno County public health nurses, coaches from the Central Valley Children's Services Network, and resources/services from other partnering agencies. Assistance from these agencies will assist you in:

  • Learning the best practice procedures for dispensing medication
  • Evaluating health and safety practices
  • Evaluating and screening children to ensure they are typically developing for their age
  • Provide feedback for setting up age-appropriate environments for children
